Three days of frenetic, talented, world class chainsaw carving
The English Open Chainsaw Carving Competition, now in its fourteenth year, is a hugely popular part of the Cheshire Game and Country Fair. With over thirty of the best carvers from around the world, you are guaranteed to see some top craftsmanship as these artists battle it out over the three days to win the coveted title.

There are two competitions over the three days: classic, in which the carver produces two pieces, and combo, in which they produce two. These are made primarily with a chainsaw to produce beautiful carvings of up to 20 feet high. Each one becomes a sought after work of art.
The carvings are judged by the carvers themselves, on skill, creative ability and overall impact.
At the end of the competition the carvings are put up for auction to the highest bidder. It’s always interesting to see which one sells for the highest amount! Auctions will take place on Monday afternoon (approx 2pm)
There are also twice daily speed carves, in which the carver has just thirty minutes to carve something amazing out of a log. You will be amazed! These are auctioned off immediately after the speed carve to the highest bidder.
